HELP B4B FILM CAMPSITE VIDEOS

Filming, editing, and uploading thousands of videos to our YouTube Channel and social media has taken a lot of time and effort through the years. The feedback from fellow campers has been tremendous, and that makes the task worth it!  It's rewarding knowing you helped make a difference in someone's Burlingame experience. Sometimes, it's as simple as filming empty campsites during your own stay.

While the campground itself hasn't changed much over the last 70 years, campsite appearances do change dramatically through the seasons. Trees grow, trees fall. privacy foliage multiplies, flooding carves its way through sites.  Updated footage helps everyone know exactly what to expect when they arrive at camp.

Use the how-to steps below while filming and be sure to follow these guidelines:

  • Only film empy campsites, cabins, or public areas.
  • Turn your phone horizontal (landscape) so it adheres to YouTube's widescreen format.
  • Keep the video to a 1- 3 minute duration.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS

FIND SOME EMPTY CAMPSITES

  • Turn your phone/camera horizontal.
  • Begin at the campsite entrance.
  • Film the site number painted on the rock for 5-7 seconds.
  • SLOWLY walk 5-10 steps into the campsite and pause

LOOK UP & LOOK DOWN

  • Point your camera up and scan the canopy for low lying branches or dead limbs.
  • Move your camera down and SLOWLY scan the overall ground terrain to show protruding rocks and roots. Focus attention on flood patterns or evidence of pooled water.
  • Pause on the location of firepit.
  • Bring phone back to chest level and move slowly into approximate center of the campsite.

THE 360° PAN

  • Once positioned near the center of the campsite, start a very slow/steady full 360° turn.
  • Keep camera near chest level, tilting up and down to film the entire area of the campsite.
  • Linger/pause on any distinct features of the site and/or neighboring campsite locations.
  • After a complete turn, be sure to show a view of the distance to the road
  • End recording.

OPTIONAL NARRATION

  • Narration should start at the rock: "This is Campsite ??? at Burlingame State Campground in Charlestown, RI" or similar.
  • As you scan overhead/terrain, mention specific pros and cons. Distance to bathrooms, spigots, porta-jons etc. is always appreciated by campers. Note tricky terrain, troublesome limbs, water flow patterns, and slopes. Is it an interior site, or does it border the woods?  The more detail the better!
  • For cabins-- are the bunks stationary or can you reconfigure the setup.
  • As you do your slow turn, you can mention locations of nearby campsites or companion site recommendations.
  • Always try to mention that the video is provided by Bound4Burlingame, a "campers-helping-campers" platform
  • Remind viewers to subscribe to the B4B channel.

** Please be careful walking in campsites with exposed roots!

EXAMPLES OF NARRATED VIDEOS

IF YOU THINKS ITS GREAT, OTHERS WILL TOO

Mention what you think makes the site a great choice for tenters and/or RVers. Change up the dialog and be yourself. You don't have to cover every detail in every video. Someone else might cover what you didn't.

DEALING WITH UNDESIRABLE CAMPSITES

Don't hesitate to give an honest review of a campsite. Better to tell it like it is, rather than set a fellow camper up for a bad experience.
